The Mill Villages Riverlink portion of the Three Rivers Greenway is truly a
regional partnership. The Greenway is possible only because of the
willingness of both sides of the river to work together. The Mill Villages
Riverlink is an exciting safe recreational opportunity that not only draws
attention to this areas scenic rivers and beautiful communities, additionally
its potential to connect USC students and staff, as well as city and county
residents to the river is a testament to the Riverbanks Region's ongoing efforts
to explore and appreciate the value of our natural resources.
The Mill Villages Riverlink stretches through
the University of South Carolina's campus, into the city of Columbia, across a
Richland County Recreation Commission park, back into the City and across
property graciously donated. It opens up new areas along the Congaree
River and connects seamlessly into the portion of the Greenway already installed
and widely used at Granby Park. You could stand on this section of the
Greenway and literally wave at your friends in Cayce and West Columbia.
The park is dog friendly offers boardwalks, overlooks,
and one and a half miles of lighted central paths which
accommodates all levels of physical access including baby carriages and
wheelchairs.
The Mill Villages Riverlink adds an additional 1.5 miles to
the Greenway system. The Mill Villages Riverlink marks the completion of a total of 7.5 miles of Three Rivers Greenway throughout
Cayce, Columbia, West Columbia and along the rivers in Richland and Lexington
Counties, bringing the River Alliance within five miles of their goal of a 12.5
linear system along the Midland's three rivers.
